This is the view from our campsite at Mount Desert Island campground (where we stayed this past September). We kept our canoe tied to the floating dock shown on the left side of the photo. When the tide went out most of the dock was sitting on the ground -- it was a really huge tide. You could sort of hear it being sucked out of the sound, then later hear it rushing back in.

We paddled out past the line of trees (the trees on the right side of the photo are part of a small island) and saw a seal and two or three dolphins.
