Woodford State Park

Overall Rating (1 to 10) : 6.5

Location: Bennington, Vermont

Woodford State Park is a nice place, with a little lake for swimming and canoeing. There is a hiking trail that goes around the lake (about 2 miles, I think) but no other trails. The sites and bathrooms are well-maintained, with a well-planned layout. The lake is pristine. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

It was busy the weekend we visited, but everyone was well behaved.

The area is lovely, but there is surprising little to do in the general vicinity. The park is actually within the national forest, but there weren't any trails heading out from Woodford. I think if you drive down the road a little bit, there were some national forest trail entrances (though not well publicized or marked).
